what do physiotherapists do?
At Rebuild Physio Glenelg, our physiotherapists use physical techniques and exercise to speed up your recovery from injury, reduce pain and stiffness, increase mobility and help prevent future injury. Our physiotherapists provide individualised care for a wide range of injuries and conditions to bone, muscles, nerves and other parts of the body.
what is physiotherapy treatment?
Physiotherapy treatment can be wide ranging, however we pride ourselves on using only evidence based (research supported) treatments at our Glenelg Clinic. Our physiotherapy treatments involve manual therapy, which includes massage and joint mobilisations, dry needling and cupping that is targeted to ease discomfort and enhance your function. However, at the same time, we also skilfully guide you through tailored sports physiotherapy rehab and exercise prescription designed to rebuild your body towards your goals.
what is a physio’s role in your recovery?
A Physio, or Physiotherapist, plays a pivotal role in the diagnosis and management of injuries and pain. We apply physical techniques to decrease pain bringing you back to feeling like yourself again. At Rebuild Physio, Glenelg, we aim to take this a step further. We like to be with you every step of the way along your journey of rehabilitation, strength building and overall function and movement enhancement. We aim to Rebuild a more resilient you.
all about physiotherapy
We are passionate about physiotherapy as a profession that can play an important part in people’s recovery and ultimately their lives. We don’t take this role lightly. As your Glenelg Physio, we aim to do everything we can to help you get back to achieving your goals. Do you accept private health insurance? Yes, if you have private health insurance and a physiotherapy allotment allocated to your insurance plan, we are happy to provide HICAPS facilities at our clinic to subsidise the physiotherapy cost of your appointment. Just bring your health insurance card with you to use at the end of your appointment.
what can I expect in my first physio appointment?
Your first Rebuild Physio, Glenelg appointment will involve a detailed history of your injury and pain, looking at how it’s happened, your current level of function and what your goals are. Based on this we will then complete a physical examination which will involve a deeper look into your issue by assessing range of motion, strength, coordination and mobility. During this appointment you will likely have some manual therapy (such as deep tissue massage, joint mobilisations or dry needling) as well as be guided on a home program to ensure your rebuild continues after our appointment. Education is a powerful tool in recovery, we always aim to chat with you about why your injury may have occurred, your treatment options and how you can prevent pain, dysfunction and injury in the future.
